How Cloud Hosting Operates

What is cloud hosting indeed? The word 'cloud' appears to be quite trendy in today's computing, World Wide Web and web hosting jargon. Even so, only a select few in fact can tell what cloud hosting is. Perchance it is a fine idea to inform yourself about cloud hosting services. To render a very long story short, we will first describe to you what cloud hosting is not.

1. Cloud Hosting is Not Restricted to a Remote Data Storage Only.

1. Offering a remote file storage service, which involves one single disk storage appliance for all users, does not turn any given hosting service provider into an authentic cloud hosting supplier.

The cPanel web hosting corporations call the ability to offer remote file storage services a cloud hosting service. Up to now there is nothing bad about the cloud terminology, but... we are discussing hosting solutions, not remote disk storage solutions for personal or business purposes. There's constantly one "but", isn't there? It's not enough to name a shared web hosting solution, driven by a one-server hosting platform, exactly like cPanel, a "cloud hosting" solution. This is so because the remaining fractions of the whole hosting platform must be working in exactly the same way - this does not relate only to the remote file storage. The other services entailed in the whole hosting procedure also must be remote, isolated and "clouded". And that's quite difficult. A very meager number of web hosting corporations can actually do it.

2. It Involves Domains, Mailboxes, Databases, FTPs, Hosting CPs, and so on.

Cloud hosting is not confined to a remote disk storage exclusively. We are discussing a hosting service, serving countless domain names, online portals, mail addresses, and so on, right?

To dub a hosting service a "cloud hosting" one calls for a lot more than distributing plainly remote file storage mounts (or maybe physical servers). The mail server(s) have to be devoted just to the email connected services. Executing nothing different than these concrete assignments. There might be only one or perhaps a whole bunch of electronic mail servers, determined by the overall load produced. To have a genuine cloud hosting service, the remote database servers should be performing as one, regardless of their real quantity. Carrying out nothing else. The same goes for the clients' hosting CPs, the File Transfer Protocol, etc.

3. There are Cloud Domain Servers (DNSs) as well.

The DNSs (Domain Name Servers) of an actual cloud hosting supplier will support numerous datacenter facility locations on multiple continents.

Here's an illustration of a Domain Name Server of an actual cloud hosting firm:

dns1.sites.ionlineyou.com

dns2.sites.ionlineyou.com

If such a DNS is furnished by your hosting packages provider, it's not a guarantee that there is a cloud hosting platform in use, but you can absolutely be sure when you spot a DNS like the one beneath:

dns658.hostgator.com

dns659.hostgator.com

that there isn't any cloud web hosting service. This kind of DNS only shows that the hosting platform in use is one-single-server based. Perchance it's cPanel. cPanel is a single-server web hosting platform and maintains a market share of more than 98 percent. In cPanel's case, one single server handles all hosting services (web, e-mail, DNS, databases, File Transfer Protocol, Control Panel(s), website files, and so on).

Remote File Storage - The Twisted Interpretation of Cloud Hosting.

So, a cloud hosting solution is not limited exclusively to a remote data storage solution, as multiple web hosting corporations wish it was. Sadly for them, if that was the case, the majority of the file hosting corporations would have been referred to as cloud hosting ones a long time back! They are not classified as such, since they merely distribute file hosting services, not cloud web hosting services. The file web hosting platform appears really very simple, in comparison with the hosting platform. The remote data storage platform is not a cloud web hosting platform. It cannot be, since it's merely one tiny segment of the entire cloud hosting platform. There's plenty more to be found in the cloud web hosting platform: the hosting CP cloud, the database clouds (MySQL, PostgreSQL), the DNS cloud, the File Transfer Protocol cloud, the e-mail cloud and... in the near future, perhaps a number of new clouds we currently are not informed about will emerge out of the blue.
